How Atlas Est. works
One number per card, built from seven markets — so you know what a card is really worth before you buy, and when to move.
The markets
Every card on OP-Atlas is matched to its listing on up to seven markets: TCGplayer and PriceCharting (North America), Cardmarket and CardTrader (Europe), yuyu-tei and SNKRDunk (Japan), and eBay sold listings. Japanese and English prints are tracked as separate cards with separate prices — a Japanese alt art is never priced off its English twin.
Matching is exact where a market exposes a product identifier, and reviewed where it doesn't: hundreds of alt-art, serial, championship and promo prints have been mapped by hand or by an image matcher and then verified, because a price attached to the wrong print is worse than no price at all.
From seven prices to one
Atlas Est. is a weighted consensus of the markets that currently carry the card. Each market's reading is converted to USD at the day's FX rate, then:
- Outliers are trimmed. A reading that sits an order of magnitude away from the others — a typo listing, a graded copy on a raw page, a mis-mapped product — is dropped before it can pull the estimate.
- Sold beats ask. Realised sales (eBay sold, SNKRDunk sold history, yuyu-tei) anchor the estimate; a lone stack of optimistic asking prices cannot outvote a real sale.
- Fresh beats stale. Every market has a freshness clock. A price last seen months ago carries less weight than one from this week, and a card with no recent signal says so instead of showing an old number as if it were today's.
- Confidence is shown, not hidden. Each estimate carries how many markets agreed and the range they spanned; a card priced off one market looks different from one priced off five.
What "recorded on OP-Atlas" means
Prices are snapshotted every day into a permanent history. A card's all-time high, its 7/14/30/90-day change and its chart are computed from those recorded snapshots — not restated later. When a mapping is corrected, the old readings are cut from the chart so a correction is never mistaken for a price move.
What it is not
Atlas Est. is an estimate of market value, not an offer to buy or sell, and not the price any single shop will pay. Thin markets — freshly released sets, serial-numbered prizes, cards with a single listing worldwide — are inherently uncertain, and the estimate's range says so.
