Bandai, Why Not Make Packs Completely Random?

อ่านฉบับภาษาไทย →

Fixed hit rates are killing the fun.

I've been thinking about this for a long time.

After years of opening One Piece, I've slowly lost that "kid opening a pack" feeling. Opening a pack now feels like an uphill battle. Before you even get to the excitement, you're already skeptical:

  • Was this box mapped?
  • Did someone already pull the big hit?
  • Am I just buying the leftovers?

The suspicion comes first. The excitement comes second.

So hear me out:

🤔 Bandai, why not make every pack completely random?

  • No fixed hits per box.
  • No fixed slots.
  • No guaranteed number of SRs, SECs, SPs, mangas.

Just pure chaos.

The obvious downside: if luck hates you, a box could give you absolutely nothing. A case could make you cry. 😂

But that's a price I'd happily pay if it means I can buy a pack and know it's fair.

Because let's be real: a ฿3,400 box with ฿500 worth of cards is already the status quo. Every box you buy today comes with the possibility that someone already mapped it, pulled the SP, and left you the rest.

The problem isn't that you can lose.

The problem is not knowing whether you lost to bad luck, or because someone already drained the luck out of the product.

That's why loose packs are so hard to trust. If someone opens a box, finds the big hit, and sells the remaining packs — why would I want those packs?

If people can hit-filter, some people will hit-filter. That's just how incentives work.

Right now the only way to feel somewhat safe buying sealed is to buy cases. But who can afford case prices? And even cases aren't immune — if big hits cluster in predictable ways, those can be mapped too.

Now imagine the alternative.

I walk into a shop and buy one random pack for ฿150.

  • Maybe I pull nothing.
  • Maybe I pull something amazing.
  • Maybe I lose ten times in a row.

I don't care. Because I know it's luck, and only luck. Nobody opened the product before me and quietly took the good stuff — and even if they did, the pack in my hand has exactly the same odds as a fresh one.

That, to me, is worth a LOT.

I don't need every pack to be profitable.

I just want the chance to be real.

I want to buy one pack on a random Tuesday, rip it open, and genuinely think:

"What if this is the one?" 🥹

Maybe fully random boxes would make case buyers miserable.

Maybe luck would sometimes destroy you.

Fine.

  • Give me the chaos.
  • Give me the bad boxes.
  • Give me the insane boxes.
  • Give me the possibility that the ฿150 pack I grabbed after work contains something ridiculous.

Just make it fair.

I want to stop being skeptical before I've even opened the pack.

I want to be a kid again.

Bandai, please give us pure chaos. 😂

What do you think?

Would you take fully random packs and boxes if it meant loose packs could actually be trusted again?
